KPMG Australia and Family Business Association acknowledge the extraordinary contribution that the Smithbridge Group has made to Australia’s economic prosperity and success. The Smithbridge Group has a rich history, established in 1964 and next year will celebrate its 60th anniversary. It remains a 100% family-owned business.
Smithbridge has over 800 employees and are renowned for providing high quality, innovative construction and equipment services throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Region.
Smithbridge are also passionately dedicated and involved in their local communities. From their ongoing partnership with Mater Foundation, their support of the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust and the dedicated on-the-ground contribution to the recovery effort following the recent weather devastation in Guam.
At the heart of the Smithbridge Group are their people with over 30% of staff having spent more than 5 years with the business. Many team members have their own family members as fellow employees of the business.
Dashelle Bailey, Group Manager for Growth and 3rd generation of the founding Smith Family, shared a personal memory of her conversations with her father, “I remember sitting around the kitchen table with Dad. He was always stressing the importance of our staff and the pride he felt in being able to help them put food on their families' tables“. Little did she know at the time these family values would result in putting meals on tables for hundreds of families over decades.
The Smithbridge Group are one of many of Australia’s family businesses who are making a significant contribution to Australia’s infrastructure, economic resilience and support of our people.
Please join us in congratulating the Smithbridge Group on their upcoming 60th anniversary and their success.
