We sat down with FBA member Danielle Robertson, Founder and CEO of DR Care Solutions, to learn more about her experience in private care services and what led her to start her own family business.
For 37 years, Danielle has worked at the forefront of providing private care services in Australia, all within a family business context.
It started in 1986, in the role of Financial Director of Dial-An-Angel, Australia’s first private care provider established by her entrepreneurial mum, Dena Blackman, in 1967. Danielle went on to become Dial-an-Angel’s Chief Operations Officer and Chief Executive Officer, selling the business in 2014.
Identifying a unique gap in the care services sector, Danielle went on to found her own family business, DR Care Solutions, in May 2015. Operating across Australia, DR Care Solutions provides a personalised service of finding quality care, support, and accommodation for ageing or disabled clients.
Danielle joined FBA in 2001, initially seeking assistance with succession planning, then the sale of a national family business, and then to establish a new family enterprise.
Acknowledging FBA’s valuable assistance, in 2017 Danielle volunteered as Chair of the NSW/ACT Chapter, a role she held for four and a half years. She remains a member of a forum group, which she joined in 2012, and considers it a strategic advisory board to her business, bringing with it much valued life-long friendships.
